Nowadays, with the cost of living getting harder almost every week, it is not unusual for most Filipinos to be involved in extra-curricular activities aside from their regular source of income. Commonly known as “sideline”, these activities are done by the average office worker who sells items such as Ready-To-Wear dresses, snacks and other merchandise in the workplace. From producer to seed grower: A story of a hybrid rice cultivator
 

QUEDANCOR’s vision and mission had gone a long way. It continues to fulfill its objective in supporting the marginalized community through its financing programs. Testimonies from client borrowers spread from all over the Philippines to proclaim how grateful they are to QUEDANCOR. Among them is 50-year old Marcelo De Vera from Ramos St., Sto. Cristo, Guimba, Nueva Ecija. Raised from a family of farmers, Mang Marcelo also spent most of his life digging soil and planting rice.   continue...


Hope springs forth in inbred rice farming


“Habang may buhay, may pag-asa.” This adage is what Mr. Ner Sambile of Sto. Domingo, Mexico, Pampanga holds on to.

A farmer since he was 16, Mang Ner has also taught his children the rigors of survival through farming. He cultivates rice in his five-hectare farm. When Mt. Pinatubo erupted in 1991, Mang Ner’s field was covered with ashfall and caused him great miseries and burden. Despite this, he continued on.
